Bigger, better mobile library.
Staverton to get improved mobile library.
The new mobile library has a computer terminal on board with internet access for the public to use at the longer stops, and holds over 2,000 items. These cover reading for all ages from picture books, to books in large print, audiobooks and DVDs. It has over 1,500 members and issues more than 30,000 items per year.
If a particular title cannot be found, the mobile manager will be happy to reserve it for a fee of 70 pence. Apart from the request charge, membership and services are free, and there are no fines for overdue books.
The newly designed carpeted interior is light and comfortable, with books on traditional shelving as well as "quick pick" spinners. It has a lift for wheelchair users and an extra £4,000 worth of new books.
Geoff Landridge, Wiltshire Council's library services manager, said: "With this new replacement vehicle, Wiltshire now has a fleet of modern, comfortable and efficient mobile libraries. I am delighted that this well equipped vehicle will be taking the best of mobile library services to customers in some of the most remote parts of the county."
The mobile library visits Staverton Marina on alternate Fridays. The stop is at the Alvechurch car park on The Slipway.
If you live on the Marina please use the service, otherwise you will lose it.
