Community Speedwatch - coming to Hilperton ?
This scheme could soon be rolled-out.
I recently spent a Friday night/Saturday morning shift observing Trowbridge police at work. By coincidence (I presume) the Chief Constable was also experiencing life on the 'front line', and I took the opportunity to tackle him on a few issues.
Speeding, as we know, is a real problem and I asked him how his 'experiment' with a handful of Community Speedwatch pilot sites had gone.
His response was very positive and he commented that if Hilperton can muster sufficient volunteers, he would be prepared to sanction the scheme for the parish.
The parish council will discuss it at their June meeting when more details should have been obtained from the police.
With the WC election only days away, I would suggest that this sort of thing shows the importance of having a 'hands-on' local representative at County Hall who is aware of what problems people want resolved, and who actually does something about it.
