'Where everybody matters'? Not in the council chamber.
Despite the refusal to allow a debate on the subject, a proposal was made that the Cabinet should bring forward plans, by the end of this year, to collect cardboard and plastic from the kerbside and that it should be recycled.

Instead, the Conservative majority agreed a motion referring the matter to Cabinet and we were treated to words of wisdom from Jane Scott (the Leader of the council) who said that the Cabinet "will look as soon as possible" whilst Cabinet member Toby Sturgis informed us that Cabinet would look at the issue "in due course".

So, straight away, we see just how un-green the Conservatives really are. With the advent of the new council many of us had hoped that the old way of doing things (or not, as it usually turned out) had ended - instead, it would seem that 'more of the same' is the order of the day!
