As part of Wiltshire Council’s commitment to local, open and honest decision making, council meetings will be held at locations across the county.
The cabinet, responsible for the day-to-day implementation of the council's overall policy, will meet in different areas of the county to make it easier for the public to attend, particularily when matters, local to them, are being discussed. The next cabinet meeting will be held at 10.30am at the Alamein Suite, City Hall, Salisbury on July 15.
It is not just the main cabinet that will meet around the county; planning applications will continue to be considered and determined by planning committees in one of the four areas where the application is relevant.
Individual licensing sub-committees will also meet in one of the four areas of the county to which their business relates.
The new-style area boards, where issues are raised and dealt with locally, will meet in the heart of their communities in towns and villages across Wiltshire.
Jane Scott, leader of the council, said: “By spreading our meetings around the county we can ensure that local people have the opportunity to be involved and become aware of the decisions that are being made that might affect them."“When the new council for Wiltshire was created people were concerned that all the council's business would be centred in Trowbridge. I hope that residents will now see that this is not the case and that we are committed to allowing people across the county to see our open, honest and transparent decision making process.”
Wiltshire Council meeting dates, minutes and agendas are available on the council website.
