New parking powers unveiled.
Last month, councils were given greater power over on-street parking.
Councils have been given new powers to crack down on dangerous parking.Wiltshire Council will be able to issue penalty charges to drivers who double park or block dropped kerbs. The intention of the new power is to help wheelchair users and people with powered mobility vehicles or prams get around more easily and safely, and prevent motorists from blocking residents' drives and garages.Previously, penalties could only be given if councils had specifically indicated that parking was prohibited with road markings or traffic signs. The Joint Committee on Mobility for Disabled People wholeheartedly supports the new regulations.
