WC and the regeneration of Trowbridge.
The council knows what local people want.
Wiltshire Council has affirmed its commitment to the regeneration of Trowbridge and above all has pledged to do everything it can to ensure leisure facilities are delivered in the town.Wiltshire Council’s cabinet has agreed (July 15) to take forward a number of proposals designed to make sure the council is well-placed to progress leisure facilities as part of the regeneration of Trowbridge. The council knows local people want to see a cinema and family restaurants in the county town, and is particularly keen to ensure these can be delivered.Agreeing the detail in the report, cabinet members gave the go-ahead for officers to look into ways in which the council can assist the financial viability of the projects in the town, and report back to cabinet at regular intervals. The council now hope to look at how the Waterside project could complement and interact with other regeneration sites around the town centre like St. Stephen’s Place and Cradle Bridge, the former Peter Black’s site, and the regeneration of Trowbridge as a whole. It could also be taken forward in conjunction with the council’s workplace transformation programme, which is a project to reduce the number of offices the council currently uses.As Chairman of the Trowbridge Area Board, I welcome this commitment from the WC cabinet and trust that it isn't simply fine words disgusing a lack of ambition for the town. I will certainly be pressing to ensure that this affirmation is followed by action.
