Before they were abolished, all four Wiltshire district councils agreed to take advantage of a government scheme to provide free swimming for under 16s and over 60s. Staverton Parish Council changes its policy on the church.

Below are the draft minutes of the Staverton PC meeting held on Monday. It would seem that, depite agreeing their 09/10 budget just a few weeks ago, they now intend to take no part in keeping the churcyard looking spick-and-span. The Government needs to do more.

Campaigners want all Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) to run their own affairs by setting up full Management Boards. The proposal comes from the Campaign for the Protection of Rural England (CPRE)which recently issued a call for the future of beautiful landscapes to be at the heart of Government thinking. The new WC is actually advertsing one of its new jobs.

There has been a news story in the papers and on the BBC that 'over 60' bus passes can no longer be used after April 1 on certain services where they are used now. The Mead school might be joining with Wingfield.

Consultation is under way to either close Wingfield Primary School or for it to amalgamate with The Mead. Hopefully the new WC will use plain English ...

Just a reminder that, for Wiltshire, our increase was 3.5% and this was described by Conservative leader Jane Scott as a 'saving'. The WWDC planning committee met on Thursday night.

The final meeting of West Wiltshire District Council took place last night. Not surprisingly, there was very little on the agenda and it was more of an opportunity for long serving councillors to look back over their years at Bradley Road. The monthly meeting of Holt PC takes place tomorrow evening.
