The original planning application for the pub has been taken to appeal by the applicant. Both items regarding Paxcroft Ward 'found favour' last night.

Last night I had one question and one 'Notice of Motion' (NoM) to be discussed at the full WWDC council meeting. The question related to an error on a 'refusal of planning permission' letter, whilst the NoM related to a document sent to members of the WWDC planning committee. WWDC has revealed when the 'deferred' planning meeting will take place

The meeting will be held at Trowbridge Civic Hall, on Friday 11 March commencing at 7.00pm. The 23 February meeting of the full council should be interesting.

Whilst there is nothing too exciting on the agenda (other than setting the level of Council Tax for the next financial year!!) there are a number of questions, and notices of motion, that should see some lively debate, and interesting explanations from council officers. 'New' planning applications have been lodged for local items.

There is an increasing trend for 'deferred' or 'refused' planning applications to be re-submitted under a new reference number. WWDC appear to have decided on a date just four weeks away.

At a WWDC Cabinet meeting last night, it was stated that the planning application may be back before the planning committee on 11 March. Interesting developments about the Gap road.

BBC Wiltshire Sound was not allowed to record the debate last week, I have still not received a reply about the 'plagiarised' Pegasus document, and our MP is looking into the gagging of local councillors. WWDC planning committee made an unexpected decision on the road.

At their meeting on Friday 28 January the planning committee decided to defer a decision on the application to build a road through the Hilperton Gap. Play 'Spot The Difference' and win money for charity.

I have received, on consecutive days, two documents. One from the district council (the 'minutes' of the 'closed briefing session' held on 13 January) and the other from Pegasus Planning Group (Further statement on behalf of the applicant)dated 6 January.
On reading the second item, I found myself with a feeling of 'deja vu'. What are the developers doing at The Marina?

The County Council refuses to install repeater 30 MPH signs along either Marsh Road, Hilperton or New Terrace, Staverton. The agenda for the 27 January planning meeting is now available.

The meeting will be held at the council offices at Bradley Road, commencing at 7.00 pm. Anyone wishing to speak must register between 6.30 and 6.55. Public meeting dates announced.

The Rail Passengers Committee has announced the dates for various meetings to discuss the rail routes between Devon & Bristol to Waterloo via Salisbury. A 'briefing note' has now been produced by WWDC.

To confirm earlier postings on this site the District Council meeting to decide the application has been arranged for Friday January 28th at the Civic Hall in Trowbridge, commencing at 7.00 pm.
There will also be a 'closed to the public' meeting held at the District Council on 13th Jan at 7pm. This is, according to WWDC, "to allow an exchange of information between Members and Officers." The leader of the council has denied that this meeting is intended to steer members towards making the 'correct' decision later this month. If you haven't registered for my e-newsletter, here it is anyway!

'Hilperton Presents' will be staging Sleeping Beauty at Hilperton Village Hall at the end of January. Two dates confirmed for meetings about the proposed road.

Details of the WWDC planning committee meeting to discuss the Persimmon application, to build a road across the Hilperton Gap, have been confirmed. It will be held on Friday 28 January at Trowbridge Civic Hall, commencing at 7.00 pm.
In addition an informal 'closed to public' meeting of the WWDC planning committee has been called for Thursday 13 January. Two local applications were decided.

The application for five new houses as an extension to the Newlands Homes development in Marsh Road (04/01972) was given permission, but not before I had tried to secure a commuted cash sum to help maintain the planned play area. Two of the new homes will have to be 'affordable houses'.
The application to build in Whaddon Lane (04/01686) was refused. My proposal gave four grounds ranging from highway issues to the siting of the proposed building and its relationship with the surrounding area. I was somewhat surprised when Trevor Carbin spoke against me (i.e. in favour of the new house) as we normally have very similar views on planning matters. An exhibition of the relocation proposals will be held next week.

Pegasus Planning Group (the company that seems to deal with all the Persimmon planning applications in this area) have announced an exhibition to be hosted by the rugby club and their agents, Caldecotte Consultants. Three appeals have been lodged against recent planning refusals.

Developers have, as expected, lodged appeals against three of the recent refusals handed out by the district council planning committee. Rather than work with your local councillors, and Parish Council, to find a mutually beneficial solution the developers would rather suffer the delay and cost implications of going to appeal; or are they trying to frighten the district council by dangling the spectre of costs over WWDC?
