At their meeting on 28 July the district council cabinet proved that local government is not (always) controlled by un-sympathetic councillors intent on steam-rollering peoples feelings.

Persimmon Homes (Wessex) have given notice that they are applying to the district council for planning permission to construct the Hilperton Relief Road Link between the A361 and the B3105 or, using plain English across the Hilperton Gap from Fieldways to the Wyke Road/Horse Road junction.

The notice is so that any landowner or tenant can make representation to the council by Friday 06 August and is the first step in applying for permission to build the road.

The planning application to build on the site at Southfields in Devizes Road, Hilperton has been roundly refused by West Wiltshire District Council.

Many local residents wrote to object to the planned development and their views appear to be shared by the planning department.

The long awaited meeting with Marshgate is back on again.

All being well the delayed meeting between the district council, your local councillors, Hilperton Parish Council and reps from the community centre should take place on 19 July.

There are three extant applications for the marina area which are giving cause for concern to local residents. Amongst them is an application to build across the presumed route of a Staverton Relief road.

An application has been made for a Public Entertainment Licence.

The licensees of the pub have applied for a Public Entertainments License for music and dancing. If granted they could then apply for an extended drinks licence as well.
